Our chalet - accommodation with a personal touch

Summer in the Portes du Soleil region brings a wealth of sports and outdoor recreation activities - from canyoning through to wakeboarding.

Click on any of the activities below for more information:

mountain biking

Morzine is rapidly becoming one of the most popular destinations for mountain bikers. With the region hosting such events as the World Cup Downhill in Les Gets and the Avalanche Cup merely underlining the region's reputation. With in excess of 450kms of bike trails, downhill courses and cross country routes there is huge selection to enjoy.

parapenting

The micro-climate that runs between Mont Blanc and Lac Leman assists conditions that are particularly suited to parapenting. In similar fashion to the mountain biking, this has now been recognised by official bodies and Morzine is one of the venues for the Parapenting World Cup. There are facilities for tandem flights, lessons and training. Whether it is for a training course or a one-off tandem flight, all the necessary arrangements can be made prior to your stay.

rock climbing

Rock climbing in the area includes both a Via Ferrata as well as natural rock faces. There are a number of good sites suitable for climbers of all ages and abilities with climbs ranging from 30m to 80m. In addition, just a short drive away in Avoriaz is a Via Ferrata providing a safe signposted trail on the side of the mountain with a handrail system, steps and footbridges to help you reach the summit in complete safety. Physical aptitude and suitable equipment are the only requirements, with a strong recommendation to employ the services of a professional high mountain guide. The guide can be arranged prior to your stay on request.

white water rafting

The River Dranse running through Morzine is well known for its water activities and is the central location for white water rafting. The dinghy holds between 4 and 8 people and all are led by an experienced, qualified guide. There are varying degrees of difficulty for the descents and calmer, discovery trips for children. For the more adventurous there is the option of Hydro-speeding. Simply hanging onto a foam float and being swept down the river on your own – not for the faint hearted!

canyoning

One can swap floating aids for ropes and take on the Dranse through a combination of swimming, abseiling waterfalls, jumping into pools and sliding down natural water slides cut in the river bed. A real adventure! Again, qualified and experienced guides lead the group.

horse trekking

There is a choice of two equestrian centres in the area who are available to provide trekking for 1 - 3 hours or all day. The treks follow many of the established routes and paths through the Alps and are a relaxing way to take in and appreciate the amazing scenery that the area has to offer.

swimming

In addition to the swimming lakes of Les Gets and Montriond, there is the water park that is located in the centre of Morzine. Surrounding the Olympic sized swimming pool is adequate space and greenery with deckchairs and parasols for sunbathing. At one end of the pool is a children's paddling pool to ensure that young children can swim, play and splash in safety. Both pools are staffed with lifeguards. For the more adventurous, there is an excellent water park approximately 30 minute drive from Morzine.

hiking

Some of the most breathtaking scenery in the Portes du Soleil can be enjoyed from one of the many existing walking trails and routes. There are numerous maps that can be followed independently or a guide can be arranged, using their local knowledge to tailor a walk to your specific requirements which can include certain locations or swimming lakes. The personal guide can be arranged by Momentum and written guides are available from the tourist office and local shops.

golf

Within an hour's journey of the village there are a number of courses to be played, including the Championship course in Evian and the more local course in Les Gets with spectacular views of Mont Blanc from some of the tees.

tennis

In the centre of Morzine, just a short walk from the Water Park is a selection of outdoor courts that can be booked and hired on request. (15 hard and clay courts are available).

water skiing

Lac Leman provides the perfect setting for water skiing and wake boarding. Why not allow us to arrange the boat, equipment and even tuition for the day.

Other activities available include quad biking, ‘Fantasticable’, devil karting, Summer luge, mountain boarding and art courses.
