BOARDSPORT PARTY - 15TH & 16TH DECEMBER

The 15th and 16th December sees the Boardsport Party coming to Avoriaz. Two days of demo’s, exhibitions, trialling of equipment, concerts, competitions and a chance to see the latest trends and fashions on the slopes. We have two rooms left available for that week and at only £297 per person for the week, including airport transfer, this is a great opportunity to make it to the party

Skiing snaps..Avoriaz today!

Went up the mountain today to ski for a few hours..we were the only people on the lifts and saw maybe 10 others...felt like they had opened the resort only for us. Great fun..trying to get out this week again. Some pictures..how empty are the slopes!!??!!!

Avoriaz is now open...

and not only for the weekend..JOEEHOOO!! All cool, they have opened Avoriaz now..A few runs are open! So we are trying to get up tomorrow for a few hours. It has been manic here for the last week and more to come. We need to sort out the chalet before the first guests are arriving..and it is a bit of a mad rush. Went to Ikea for loads of stuff and this week we are trying to go to the Metro in annemasse for all the dry goods..and then we are getting there.

The snow now has melted on chalet level (850) but more to expect this weekend...but the sun is out and you see people walking around with their ski's and boards...to go up to Avoriaz! Can;t wait for tomorrow and do a few runs..We are really trying to get some skiing in before it is too late!!

Some other good news this morning when I turned on the computer - Avoriaz is also opening this weekend - 9 runs and the snowpark..and it is only November!!! Les Gets will be opening as well.

The weather is a little warmer then last week...there is snow forecasted again for this week. It will be raining this week on 1200 meters but the rain/snow limit is dropping again to 900 meters over the weekend. So from next week MORE SNOW!!!!

Skiing in November!!!

We have had the best weekend in a long time...we skied on Saturday and Sunday and the conditions were amazing. On Sunday it was a little too busy (for my wobbly ski legs)..and decided to leave the slopes at 15:00.

The weather was fantastic, sunny and we felt like we all were on holiday! The rumour is now that Avoriaz is going to open this weekend...bring it on!

Skiing...This weekend..!!!

Best news we had this morning...they are opening a few runs this weekend!!!!! Absolutely amazing as it means we will be skiing Saturday & Sunday...We have had a lot of snow over the last 1,5 day's..and it still is snowing a bit. Had to clear the drive and patio as the snow was almost up to my knees! The place looks sooo beautiful..
Tomorrow going to sort out the ski's for the season (4 weeks earlier then planned). The forecast for the next few day's is VERY cold (around the -8) sunny. Perfect weather for a few day's on the ski's...Hopefully it will stay till the real season starts - by the looks of things it will be topped up...the snow canons are on and they are starting to make more snow. You should think that this is a good sign otherwise why all this work???!

I still can't believe that in 2 day's we will be skiing...Will make some more pictures during the next few day's to give you an idea of what is happening here!

This morning...I discovered this!!!

Snow..snow..snow..snow..everywhere you look! At this moment in time it is snowing heavily and more forecasted for tonight and tomorrow. We are going to Morzine this afternoon to have a look around there..Pleney is completely covered and Avoriaz "received" 60 cm overnight and even more now..All very exciting!!

More snow forecasted!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is amazing..I just checked the weather forecast and even more snow is forecasted for the next few days. It is absolutely amazing as you should think that this is the start of a fantastic ski season! It is cold, wind chills of -17 in the evenings but all the mountains around the chalet are covered and more to follow..

The real load is forecasted for Tuesday evening - so I will be making pictures on Wednesday so everybody can be as enthusiastic as everybody here.

Weekend with the cousins...great fun..rugby cup final (not so good) Mont blanc (very nice), dinner in the L'ammandier (very nice)..However I cooked duck and it was better then the restaurant I was told...

Ski & Snowboard show 2008 & UK

We just got back from 10 days in the UK. The first few day's we were at the ski and snowboard show were we had a stand. It was a great success, very busy, met loads of people and the place was buzzing. They had the most amazing fashion show (more of a break dance show), new ski and board gear, equipment etc. In the middle of this all we tried to catch up with friends and we had 12 hours sleep in 4 day's..not recommendable. But great fun. We stayed with our good friends in London and St Albans. Of course we had fish and chips and even a Chinese was on the menu...But glad to be back - the M25 is a little too much. Amazing how quickly you get used to the alpine mountain roads.

SNOW is on it's way (forecast says snow tomorrow and the weekend) and the temperature is really dropping.
Tonight we are having a "guy Fawkes" at our neighbours, with bonfire, warm wine and hot dogs. Will be great fun.
